Although probably still respected in Washington, Sen Spector will lose his seniority on the committees that he is on after his switch to the Democratic Party. Probably a minor detail, but then again maybe a major one with his election coming up in 2010. Newest rumor for his opponent: Former Homeland Security Director and PA Gov. Tom Ridge.
hmmm…he could have a fight on his hands!
Looks like Mr. President could possibly be going back on a campaign promise about Guantanamo Bay. According to the NY times and Fox News Story Obama Considers Reviving Military Commission System the Justice Dept has said that the Obama Admin is considering revivng the military commission system that prosecuted terriorism suspects that were held at Guantanamo Bay. This commission was heavily criticized by Obama during the campaign in 2008.
Obviously some changes will be made and would take congressional approval, but it looks to me that our president can’t make up his mind.
