Yep, Keith Bardwell refused to give them a license. The reason he gave for his discrimination? He says it’s because the children of the couple will be discriminated against. Nothing like covering up your own discrimination by blaming possible future discrimination, huh?
This obviously will not stand, but it is depressing that this is an issue in 2009. A couple in love cannot get married because some guy thinks there is a chance their children (if they have them) will suffer. So it’s better they not have them at all? Also, does the judge not realize marriage is not required for procreation to occur? This dropped my jaw. How is this guy a judge? He knowingly made an illegal decision.
