This is by far the most insane example of Obama love there has been. I was pissed when they gave Al Gore the award for making a movie, but at least he made the movie. Obama has promised a lot, but as Adam points out himself, he hasn’t done any of it. What has he actually done since he took office? And the big thing here is that the nominations were due 2 weeks after he took office, so what in the world did Barack Obama do in those first 2 weeks, or ever in his life that made him the best candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize??? It’s outrageous and totally takes away any meaning the award ever had, and I’m not saying that because I oppose Obama, I’m saying that because there is no accomplishment the man has ever had, that I agree with or disagree with, no accomplishment period that warrants the honor.
What is wrong with you guys? Aren’t you proud as an AMERICAN that our President was given such an honor and accepted it with such humility. We have gone from “strategery” to the Nobel Peace Prize and that doesn’t impress you at all? You disgust me.
Yeah ok…the man has been in office for 8 month and what the heck has he accomplished to earn such a high honor.
I would be be proud, if he had earned.
I would have no problem with him winning the award if it was for what he had done, but it’s obvious that the only way he could have possibly won it is because the committee that makes the decision is in love with him.
The only logical reasoning is that they think he’s just awesome and that the award will help him push his agenda.
Don’t get me wrong, he is all about peace, almost to a point when it becomes dangerous, and I wouldn’t have been at all surprised to see him given the honor in 2 or 3 years, but right now all he’s done is talk. If he was the best person to get the award this year than hope is gone because nobody else is promoting peace or at least they haven’t truly accomplished anything either.
They don’t give a best actor Oscar to a guy who hasn’t had his movie released yet. They don’t give a Super Bowl trophy to a team before the game is played. You have to do what you say you’ll do before being awarded for it. I don’t think it’s unpatriotic to want a person to earn an award aks.
Hey Dr, how about a poll asking whether Obama should have been given the award, or perhaps “Is it too early for President Obama to be given a Nobel Peace Prize”.
The Nobel Committee themselves have said that their criteria is not always based on accomplishments. Sometimes they give it to add momentum to a cause or give it to a person who can reach a wide audience. Perhaps the President has not done a lot yet to deserve the award but it is clear that he is highly regarded around the world.
