Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
Psalm 109:8-9
An imprecatory prayer is one that wishes a curse upon someone. I never really associated it with Christianity because it seemed like Jesus wasn’t about revenge or anything like that. The above verse is an example of an imprecatory prayer, and it has been gaining popularity recently. It is all the rage to pray this with President Barack Obama in mind. Yes, literally hoping for Michelle to be a widow and Sasha and Malia to be fatherless.
What love these Christians show for their fellow man! Obviously it wouldn’t be better to pray for God to guide Obama to whatever policies they want. Death is much better.
The above article largely features Pastor Wiley Drake, who made waves when he told Alan Colmes he prayed for Obama’s death on Colmes’ radio show. Drake also preaches that all Muslims are a danger to America.
Interestingly, Drake does not want Christians to kill. It’s God’s business (which makes you wonder why God needs him and others telling him to kill people). He prayed for Tiller’s death and, since it happened, believes that his death was God’s will. (But if everything that happens is the will of an omnipotent God, then the abortions that are carried out are also a part of his will, right?) Also, if he’s pleased about it, though it was carried out by a Christian, it makes me nervous for the actions of his parishioners. Especially considering that a different pastor and practitioner of imprecatory prayer had one of his regulars show up to a speech by Obama with two guns in hand.
Drake is hardly unknown. He was the vice-presidential candidate under Alan Keyes for the American Independent Party, which is California’s affiliate of the Constitution Party.
I should also mention that Drake has lifted his call for death prayers directed at Obama because he wants him to stand trial for treason. I guess the murderer can keep killing so Drake can see his trial. Also, did I mention that Drake believes Obama is from another country?
I’ll take it that since President Obama continues to live, God is ignoring those who lack his omniscience. (Have you ever wondered why someone with omniscience and omnipotence would need a guy like Drake to tell him to kill someone?)
Enjoy the knowledge that this guy is an idiot.

Is it not treason to bankrupt the nation you are supposed to be leading? A deficit exceding 1 trillion dollars in one year was unheard of before Obama and some of the stimulus money that was so urgently needed hasn’t even been spent! It’s a prime example of far left stupidity to ask for money you don’t need saying that you do need it, and then to let it just sit there instead of doing like you said you would and trying to find a way to jump start the economy with it. The health bill will undermine the Constitution of the United States of America, as will cap and trade. Obama has committed treason and promises to continue doing so.
I don’t believe in praying for his death, but I am all for praying for his failure in implementing his policies and for his swift defeat in 2012, along with a long list of Congressional members in 2010 and 2012.
Go Palin!—-that’s for you Adam.
That made no sense.
“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.”
Yep, supporting policies from Congress you don’t agree with really equals levying war against our country. (Sigh.)
Weakening our nation to a point where it can’t defend itself is in a way surrendering to our enemies. I maintain that you need oil to fight a war and you need cash to buy oil (if you won’t drill for it youself: ALASKA!). If you stretch the debt so far that nobody (not even China) will loan you money and you are too busy paying interest to generate your own cash, then guess what, you can’t fight anymore. Obama’s policies are endangering our nation’s future.
If we hadn’t spent the last 8 years embroiled in 2 wars we could have spent that money developing new technologies so we would not be dependent on oil. Instead of invading other countries we could have had an energy tax and raised the money that way. There were other choices besides war. But look who benefited the most by staying dependent on oil.
We have tons of oil in Alaska, it’s stupid, just stupid to not drill for it.
Say what you will about the wars, but Bush his al qaida hard, if every liberal in the country wants to ignore 9/11 and wait for another attack because it’s a waste of money to fight torrists over there, fine, maybe Obama will make that dream happen.
Skye, your points do not justify Obama’s policies. Much of Obama’s excessive spending has nothing to do with developing new technology.
I do not by the way defend Bush’s spending. I agree with both wars in principle, even though I don’t always agree with their management, but I do not support the way Bush spent what we didn’t have. Obama’s debt spending is making the Bush numbers look very small, so the argument against Bush is becoming weak and pathetic on your part. Find a new way to defend Obama instead of comparing him to the last guy.
Your arguments are the ones that are weak and pathetic. You say you support both wars but we shouldn’t spend what we don’t have. Well, the money for wars need to come from somewhere. You can’t have it both ways. Of course Obama has to spend money now. What do you think it would be like if the money wasn’t spent? A whole lot worse than it is now. Obama did not cause this recession and I’ll stop bringing up Bush gladly when you stop blaming Obama for every problem in the world. And you can’t stand me comparing Obama to Bush because you know the last 8 years were a disaster and you can’t stand being reminded of it. And yes, money will need to be spent on health care reform but once again if something had been done in the last 15 or 20 years about it, we wouldn’t be where we are right now.
Furthermore, I believe it would be totally stupid to drill for oil in Alaska. According to most reports, it would not make a dent in oil prices, and whatever oil the refuge might produce is simply irrelevant. Also, it would come at a huge price. You must have been listening to Fox News and Sean Hannity: “only 2,000 acres will be altered and the total oil reserves would match that of Saudi Arabia.” What a joke! Most of the oil is not concentrated in one location but spread out and that would require networks of roads and pipelines that would destroy the habitats of the area–for what? Something that will make no difference in the long run. How about using that American ingenuity and invest in renewable energy–the energy revolution could do for our future economy what the IT revolution did for us in recent years.
Until the energy research actually yields solid and affordable results, we still need oil. I don’t care whether drilling in Alaska drops prices, that’s not the issue, the issue is that it makes us one step closer to energy independence. If done right the impact on the environment wouldn’t be as bad as many green nuts and liberals would make it sound.
I do support the wars, I don’t support government spending in many other areas. You can’t say that supporting the wars is supporting debt spending unless the person supporting the wars is in favor of all other government spending. Something I’ve noticed from you and Adam is that neither of you ever seem to talk about spending you oppose except for the wars. Are you guys really in favor of all other spending?
I’m not blaming Obama for every problem in the world. What I do blame him for is having the stimulus package mentality that Bush had at the end of his 2nd term where he thinks we can spend our way out of a recession. It’s madness. As far as health care…nationalization (which is what they want behind all of the other “reform” talks) will not fix the problem. The government has failed on social security, when they fix that they can talk health care, until then I don’t trust them, why do you?
