Politics Daily has a list of women that are rising stars in the political scene. Number one on the list is Kristi Noem.
I’m no fan of Noem and this is troubling for Herseth-Sandlin supporters. If Noem is a rising star on a national level it means she’s gaining steam. November is still very distant, but I’m nervous.
Enjoy Dan Gilbert’s meltdown.

Don’t be nervous… be a voter!
Plus, note that the Politics Daily writer works from no South Dakota sources and instead gets all of her info from national folks lobbying for Noem to win (the NRCC and the laughably Orwellian SBA List) and a Rasmussen poll that just got updated closer to reality today to show Noem losing her bounce (more on that this weekend!). The writer is all narrative (ooo, she’s a frontier woman like Sarah Palin!) and offers no policy or campaign skill to show Noem has the goods.
Noem is a lucky star, riding the wave. She has yet to demonstrate she can sustain that wave. Keep the faith, brother!
It’s just making me a bit nervous. But you’re right, Stephanie will get her.
Adam, do you know anything about Noem. My guess is no. She, not Herseth-Sandlin represents the majority of voters in South Dakota.
Herseth-Sandlin is on recess and is back campaigning(which, yes, she needs too) but she alse needs to visit with the people of South Dakota. She has not had 1 public meeting since being back in the state.
However, if Herseth-Sandlin was number one on this list, you would be saying this list is the greatest in the country. Its always a double standard with you too…I wish I could see your faces when we send Herseth-Sandlin back to Washington…UNEMPLOYED.
You guys need to admit, that regardless of party, the incumbant is in serious trouble in November b/c ineffectness in Washington. Its like 2004, when the great one was defeated….
[...] Now, for the sake of argument, assume Republican-run Rasmussen has any credibility (return later to Travis’s explanation of why they don’t). Does this poll mean SHS is in “deep, deep trouble“? Shouldn’t the incumbent be kicking butt right now? Should Dems be even a little bit nervous? [...]
Dr, I didn’t bad mouth the list once, did I? I said it makes me nervous. I’ve read about her background and positions, which I told you about. It’s not a double standard with me. It is with you. Whether Stephanie votes exactly as you want or not it isn’t good enough for you. If you haven’t noticed, I haven’t been too happy with Stephanie in a while. She is the better candidate, but I’m by no means gaga.
It’s like you don’t read anything I write and just make broad assumptions.
And quit overusing ellipses, Dr. Are all your thoughts unfinished?
Dr, read the article posted the quote directly above this was pulled from. Read that and tell me what you think of it. It actually makes me feel a lot less nervous and makes a lot of sense, even for Republicans.
Wasn’t attacking you in regards to the list, but Cory attacked the list.
Obviously, you or the author of this post haven’t been to any GOP events lately.
Can Noem win, yes. Will she, I am not sure but I am going to fight like hell for her.
Parts of me right now do not trust SHS. She voted against the health care bill, but had it been closer, I wonder how she would have voted then. Adam, even you would admit, had she voted for the health care bill, she would be in serious trouble this November. Her ‘no’ vote may have saved her job.
But Cory and the commenter is right on one account, people aren’t going to start caring (other than me and you) until fair season which starts the first week in August.
BTW, She is a South Dakota farmer, not an insurance agent.
Did you read that article?
Yes…and this will hurt her against republicans that would normally vote for her (me).
“She still needs to keep us Dems happy (and recent votes against health care mini-repeal and for financial reform help do that). However, the more important battle may well be for the non-partisans… and the old-school Republicans who may end up seeing a Blue Dog Democrat as the best representative of their practical Republican ideals.”
If Noem’s camp can really expose this, SHS could be hurt this fall.
I will say, that if SHS and Noem debate today; SHS would take her to the woodshed. Noem needs polishing in that department.
Plus, and you may laugh at this, but having Steve Barnett on the ballot doesn’t help SHS’s cause. He is going to drive out more republican voters in NE South Dakota and that doesn’t bode well for any democrat on the ballot.
Maybe the dems and SHS’s camp may have to go looking for votes in trunks of cars at midnight again in November. Sorry that was mean
Expose what? That she didn’t take part in a futile effort to block what democracy created? These are the things people voted for. Just because the fear machine is in full effect doesn’t change that.
Or did you mean expose this part: “…and the old-school Republicans who may end up seeing a Blue Dog Democrat as the best representative of their political Republican ideals.”
