You often hear that it is the opinion guys on Fox News that have an agenda, but I believe it goes beyond that. For instance, have you ever seen them “accidentally” label Republican politicians caught in a scandal as Democrats? A quick google search and in 15 seconds I saw they did it with Mark Foley (the sex texter pedophile guy) and Mark Sanford (the escape to South America for my mistress guy). And who could forget about the terrorist fist jab? Anyway, the Huffington Post (which is admittedly ideological) has a compilation of the worst Fox News reports (not from the opinion guys). You can sift through the ten videos and pick the worst of the worst.
My opinion is that the quotes out of context are just about as bad as it gets. Any news organization that uses someone quoting someone else and claims it’s that person’s opinion knows what they’re doing and just doesn’t care about how big of a lie that is. I’m specifically talking about them saying Biden claimed the fundamentals of the economy are strong when he was just saying what McCain had said. Same for the supposed Obama quote that was simply him repeating a question before he said the opposite. It’s dishonest and they obviously cut it for political reasons. But the rest were pretty horrible, too.
Here is a video by Media Matters (also admittedly ideological) about the supposed difference between Fox opinion and Fox News:
They even used the Russian music in the supposed “news” story. How is that unbiased reporting?
I’m not really sure what category Fox and Friends falls into (probably opinion) or if it’s even a news show, but remember when they doctored photos to make people that committed the heinous crime of saying others were catching up to Fox News to make them look much worse? Even if that’s an opinion show they actually narrowed faces, yellowed teeth, and moved back their hairlines. On a fair and balanced news network.
And how about when Fox News reported on Bill Clinton’s effort to save the American journalists from North Korean prison and hard labor? Their focus almost immediately turned to how bad it was for us and how good it was for North Korea. Not letting those women suffer was a huge mistake made by Clinton and the liberals.
I understand people like Fox News. But don’t tell me it isn’t ideological. That’s just not the truth. And don’t write underneath about MSNBC. This isn’t a defense of MSNBC, just as ridiculing that channel isn’t a defense of Fox News. I’m no fan of 24 hour TV news in general. I wrote this because it should be obvious that Fox News has an ideological agenda.
