The stimulus (and Obama) gets a lot of bad press for things that are pretty much inconsequential. Mistakes involving the website made a lot of news, but they had little to do with how the stimulus was actually functioning. It turns out, the stimulus has worked quite well. From a New York Times article:
Just look at the outside evaluations of the stimulus. Perhaps the best-known economic research firms are IHS Global Insight, Macroeconomic Advisers and Moody’s Economy.com. They all estimate that the bill has added 1.6 million to 1.8 million jobs so far and that its ultimate impact will be roughly 2.5 million jobs. The Congressional Budget Office, an independent agency, considers these estimates to be conservative.
So when Scott Brown claims the stimulus didn’t create one job he had no idea what he was talking about. It also seems telling that the harbinger of Democrats’ doom and the personification of Americans’ rage is misinformed.
Hopefully people actually hear about the good the stimulus is done so it isn’t seen as such a negative. Hopefully there will be some credit given for the amount of American jobs saved. And hopefully Republicans will have to admit they were wrong when they take credit for the programs they didn’t vote for.

The Washington Times has an interesting article about Republican senators that opposed the stimulus but are looking to benefit from it. The article was created using the Freedom of Information Act to secure documents.
I understand that many senators are just trying to secure a portion of the stimulus for their constituents. I get how you could be against something but once it’s passed recognize it’s the best thing for your state.
What I don’t get is those that were dead against, called it useless, but then claimed their projects would stimulate the economy and create jobs. These people must be lying one way or the other. I wonder if they will sing the praises of the stimulus after their projects succeed? With some conservative groups already taking notice, I doubt it.
Enjoy a little hypocrisy.

Obama is going to announce a plan to create jobs. The plan will use $8 billion to create high-speed rails between cities.
The creation of these rails should also create a lot of jobs. The Obama administration is going to announce this plan to signify their commitment to creating jobs.
Enjoy the Ipad.

Bobby Jindal is one of many Republican governors to come out and speak against the stimulus plan. They cannot take the money, except for all the money they take. Jindal speaks passionately against the stimulus, tells us why he is turning down the money, then takes $3.7 billion of the $3.8 billion offered. If this whole thing isn’t to get some face time in the press, I’m not sure exactly what these guys are doing. Here is a little piece on it from the Daily Show. Warning: Some of the jokes in the video are not clean
Enjoy spring training.
