While San Diego State’s basketball teams were splitting their Mountain West Conference games last week, Aztecs athletes were making their marks in other sports.
San Diego State senior Justin Hastings won the Latin America Amateur Golf Championship Saturday in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Hastings, 21, a native of the Cayman Islands, shot a 16-under-par 272 to qualify for The Masters and U.S. Open.
“It’s still crazy to think about this,” said Hastings. “I don’t think it’s totally kicked in. I’m proud to see how far my mental game has come in the last few years.”
