Yesterday kicked off the quarterfinals, the first round of the knockout stage in Copa America 2024. Unlike the group stage which relied on multiple games and a point ranking system, for the eight countries remaining (of the original sixteen) their next match will determine who advances to the semifinals and has a shot at winning the cup.
To secure a spot in the quarterfinals, Venezuela won all three games in Group B. With six goals in three matches, the Venezuelan team left with a +5 point differential.
Canada placed second to Argentina in Group A, managing to secure a spot in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win against Peru. The Canadian team left the group stage with a -1 point differential, being outscored 2-1 in the Copa America thus far.
In simpler terms, Venezuela is favored to win against Canada in their quarterfinal matchup. However, anything can happen. We do know that it will be an exciting game!
Tonight’s game airs on Fox Sports 1 (FS1), but DIRECTV Stream and more will carry the game at a discount or free entirely with a new subscription.
