Naa Basha Ibrahim Iddrisu, the newly enskined Entertainment Chief of the Dagomba Community in North America, has launched a campaign against drug abuse and drug trafficking in the Northern Region.
The campaign, christened “Nagbiegu Against Drugs,” will begin with health walks in selected communities to create awareness of the dangers and effects of drug usage and trafficking.
It will be followed by a main event, which is expected to bring on board experts to educate the youth on drug abuse and drug trafficking.
Naa Basha Ibrahim Iddrisu revealed this when he paid a courtesy call on the King and Overlord of Dagbon, Ndan Ya-Naa Abukari II, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
The North American Dema Naa, who was in the company of other Entertainment Chiefs of Dagbon, told the Dagbon Overlord that his plans to use the traditional Naabiegu dance to sensitize the youth about the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking was a way to use entertainment to educate the youth on drug
abuse.
He emphasized the need for collective efforts to address the growing problem of drug abuse among young people in the region.
As a token of appreciation, North American Dema Naa Basha Ibrahim Iddrisu presented a 70-inch smart TV to Yaa Naa’s palace, enhancing the palace’s entertainment and communication facilities.
Ndan Ya Naa welcomed North America Dema Naa Basha Ibrahim Iddrisu and commended the chief for his initiative, expressing support for the campaign against drug abuse.
He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on their education and personal development.
