Mark Cuban has hit out at a conservative commentator who mocked Tim Walz’ teenage son Gus after he was seen emotionally applauding during his dad’s DNC speech on Wednesday.
The billionaire businessman responded to an X post by Dinesh D’Souza who had posted the widely circulated footage of Walz’s 17-year-old son Gus writing, “The kid might have mental problems, but he’s acting just like Tim Walz! So, what’s Walz’s excuse?”
Cuban hit at the commentator with the response, “You’ve never had that feeling, have you? So proud of someone you love, that you can’t hold back. Every emotion you can feel, comes pouring out. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
His response has received 4.9 million views on the social media platform and 178,000 likes.

Gus reportedly has a non-verbal learning disorder, ADHD, and anxiety disorder. He captured the hearts of many after he got up to say, “That’s my dad!” during Walz’s heartfelt DNC speech on his struggles to have a baby with his wife, but was mocked by some MAGA-affiliated accounts on social media.
Gus was in the audience with Walz’s 23-year-old daughter Hope and his wife Gwen, while Walz used his speech to introduce himself to the crowd as America’s football dad and vice presidential hopeful.
Cuban, who has been outspoken against Trump during this election cycle, and his wife Tiffany Stewart have two daughters Alexis and Alyssa and one son called Jake. After getting married on September 21, 2002, in Barbados, the couple had Alexis, a year later, Alyssa in 2006, and Jake in 2010.
The Shark Tank star is set to leave the show in 2025, saying that he wants more time to be with his children, the Los Angeles Times reported.
In an interview with Kevin Hart on his show Hart to Heart in 2023, Cuban said that he wanted his kids to do what they wanted and figure out who they are.
He shared how his son was a “little me,” Alyssa was “the artist” and Alexis “has the world in front of her wherever she goes,” while speaking to the actor. He added, “I just want them to be healthy and happy.”
