After a stint with Utah, Henry crosses the southern borders and joins Toluca
She joins another Frenchwoman, Célia Bensalem, who was in Lyon’s youth system
Could it be the final experience in Henry’s professional career as a soccer player?
Olympique Lyonnais’ former midfielder and French international Amandine Henry has signed with Toluca club in the Mexican Women’s championship, named “La Liga BBVA MX Femenil”.
This is a tier 1 signing for the club, which is currently 13th in the league and struggling for momentum.
Amandine Henry is one of France’s all-time best players. She has 108 caps with the French team and has featured in many international competitions – the Paris 2024 Olympics being the latest.
With Lyon, she played 300 matches and won 7 Champions League titles and 14 French League titles.

A few days ago, it was announced that Utah Royals and Amandine Henry have parted ways, ending an adventure that only started back in April 2024.
Toluca is Amandine Henry’s fourth club in the last few months as she has been moving from one club to another, from one country to another.
After stints at Angel City FC (NWSL), Lille (Arkema Première Ligue), and Utah Royals (NWSL), the 34-year-old moves to Mexico for yet another new experience, in a new country with a different style of soccer.
The recent turbulence in Henry’s career started following her departure from her long-life time, Olympique Lyonnais, who she left in 2023.
After playing around 300 matches with the French champions, Henry decided to move abroad and have another experience in the NWSL.
The destination? Angel City FC.
Henry ended up only playing 9 matches with the American franchise before returning to France and signing with Lille, her city club.
Three games into her time with the LOSC, she suffered an injury that sidelined her for the remainder of her contract with the team.
In April 2024, the Utah Royals announced signing Henry.
A Mexican Experience With Toluca
This time, Amandine Henry is going to discover a new country: Mexico, a nation where women’s soccer is in a rapid state of development.
The Mexican team is currently 13th in the Liga MX women’s, which has 18 clubs, with 3 wins in 9 matchdays so far.
Former Lyon players, Kheira Hamraoui and Aurélie Kaci, also had experiences in Mexico, as they both signed with Club America.
Hamraoui left and signed up in Saudi Arabia while Kaci was still playing with America.
Henry will also meet again with Célia Bensalem, the 19-year-old midfielder, who passed through the OL Academy and had a short stint with the pro team.
A beautiful “luxury reinforcement” for Toluca, who did not delay in spreading the good news to their fans on social networks.
