The University of Arizona, often known by the shorthand of UA and U of A, isn’t alone in its nickname.
The school went through its own internal style change earlier this year when it switched from its use of “UArizona” back to “U of A.” The original change was done to help the school’s search engine optimization, meaning its stature in search engine results.
Officials eventually changed it back, but not before receiving some backlash from alumni and sports fans in the midst of the 2019 change.
So how do UA and U of A compare with other commonly searched groups?

When using a VPN to pull up search results from outside Arizona, the first result shows the following companies in this order:
United Airlines
University of Alabama
Under Armour
United Association
University of Arizona
University of Alaska
UA is also frequently associated with flight numbers for United Airlines, according to Google Trends. The states where it’s most commonly searched are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado and New Jersey.
