Arkansas Senate District 17Mark Johnson (R)
Incumbent Republican Mark Johnson was elected to represent Arkansas Senate’s 15th District in 2018. In 2022, after redistricting, he ran and won in the 17th District.
Johnson worked on the staff of an Arkansas congressman and at the Small Business Administration before becoming the director of community development for the City of North Little Rock.
A fifth generation Arkansan and graduate of Hendrix College, Johnson owns and runs a Little Rock business consultancy firm.
His campaign website lists some of his central campaign issues: “Preservation of our Christian Faith and Heritage… proper division between states and the national government… (and) Protection of citizens to own and control their private property.”
Maureen Skinner (D)
Democrat Maureen Skinner is a clinical mental health provider practicing in Conway.
She is a licensed psychological examiner and University of Central Arkansas alum.
She ran unsuccessfully for the state Senate in 2018.
“I promise to restore reproductive healthcare, strengthen transparency to fight corruption, and improve public education so every student can thrive,” she says on her campaign website.
