Attendees at last year’s CIMPA Conference.
The Cayman Islands Marketing Professionals Association (CIMPA) is set to host its highly anticipated annual conference, ConnectXperience, on 11 and 12 October at Hotel Indigo.
Under the theme Icons + Innovators, the dynamic two-day event includes a full conference day, networking socials, and caps off with an awards gala that celebrates the best in Cayman’s marketing and creative industry.
Kicking off on Friday, 11 October, the conference will bring together industry leaders for a full day of keynote speeches, an interactive workshop, a panel discussion, and fireside chat — offering attendees an opportunity to explore new trends and strategies in marketing, and innovative approaches to brand-building.
Simone Jackson
This year’s keynote speaker is Simone Jackson, a Forbes 30 Under 30, 2024 recipient and global brand manager for Spotify. In her role at Spotify, Ms Jackson leads global marketing initiatives, propelling the brand forward with tentpole campaigns like Spotify Wrapped and spearheading brand plans for future-forward partnerships and collaborations. Along with being a recipient of the Forbes 30 Under 30 in Marketing & Advertising, Ms Jackson was also awarded the 2020 Adweek Rising Fellow, 2016 ADCOLOR Future, and 2015’s American Advertising Federations’ Most Promising Multicultural Student.
Joining the featured speakers is Lizette Williams, a leading marketing and advertising executive with expertise at driving the convergence of brand, culture and digital. Currently serving as the global head of vertical solutions marketing at Meta (formerly Facebook), she leads a global content marketing team tasked with developing the strategy and approach for engaging business customers across the world. Ms Williams has worked across Fortune 50 companies, and in major marketing roles at McDonald’s, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and PepsiCo. In 2021 she was named ‘Advertising Woman of the Year’ by the Chicago Advertising Federation and was also inducted into the American Advertising Federation Advertising Hall of Achievement.
Claudia Harvey, president of BG Wealth Group, is another speaker at Icons + Innovators. After striking a deal with Kevin O’Leary on CBC Canada’s Dragon’s Den for her company DigIt Apparel Inc, Ms Harvey went on to found BG Wealth Group and became a global award-winning entrepreneur, investor, brand-builder, three-times best-selling author, and philanthropist.
Publisher for Compass Media, Tripp Donnelly, will also be presenting. In 2020, Mr. Donnelly was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and earlier in his career, he served at the White House for over four years as a presidential aide in the Offices of Media & Communications, Legislative Affairs, and Presidential-Press Advance.
Cayman’s own Tedrick Green is also a featured speaker at Icons + Innovators. In 2007 he founded the Ted Green fragrance brand, which began as a personal passion project and has since grown into a leading brand in the Cayman Islands with international market penetration on the horizon. Mr. Green’s success has been recognised through numerous accolades, including the Influencer Trailblazer Award in 2024, Entrepreneur of the Year in 2015, and a nomination for the Young Caymanian Leadership Award in 2016.
Rounding out the speaker list is Carlos Andrés Gómez, an international award-winning author, speaker, and strategic communications consultant with more than two decades of experience. Saturday, 12 October marks the 9th year of CIMPA’s prestigious awards ceremony. With nine categories honouring excellence in the marketing and creative sectors, the gala celebrates the trailblazers driving the industry forward. Nearly 50 nominations were received this year in the following categories: Brand of the Year; Website or App of the Year; Video of the Year; Campaign of the Year; Community Impact of the Year; Rising Star of the Year; Creative Professional of the Year; Marketer of the Year; and Agency of the Year.
The Awards Gala will also name the 2023/2024 CIMPA scholarship recipient. The scholarship programme is an important initiative of CIMPA as it helps to fund the educational goals of Caymanians looking to pursue a career in the marketing and creative industry.
As a non-profit organisation, CIMPA is comprised of a volunteer board that relies on individual and corporate memberships, as well as community sponsorship in order to deliver the various training sessions and annual marketing conference.
