Tropical Storm Nadine unleashed a torrent of rain and fierce winds across Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula on Saturday morning, impacting Central America and parts of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center anticipated its path to touch northern Guatemala and southeastern states of Chiapas and Tabasco.
Chief meteorologist Ronald Gordon disclosed that heavy showers and thunderstorms commenced late Friday evening, soaking Belize with up to 2 inches of rain before the storm crossed Half Moon Caye at Lighthouse Reef Atoll.
With winds reaching 45 mph, Nadine moved at a sluggish pace of nine miles per hour, extending its reach 230 miles from its center. Authorities have issued warnings for affected regions, with heavier rains forecasted inland as Nadine progresses, threatening infrastructure like low-lying bridges and roads.
