About F5J
F5J challenges pilots to fly lightweight, carbon-fibre gliders on a 10‑minute flight (15 minutes in the finals) launched from as low an altitude as possible. Points are awarded for flight duration, landing precision, and minimal motor use, making it a true test of endurance and strategy. This innovative class has rapidly become one of the most popular in FAI Aeromodelling.
Defending junior world champion Romain Gallet of France will travel to the event, taking part this time as a senior. CIAM Legends Arijan Hucaljuk and Joe Wurts will also compete.

Welcome to Argentina!
Hugo Bustos (pictured below with microphone) of the Argentine Aeromodelling Federation who will host the event with the La Mezquita Club, comments, “Argentina is an active participant in the F5J class, and after the success of our 7th place at the world championships in Bulgaria in 2023, we wanted to welcome the community to our country. We have the support of the municipality of Córdoba and together will make it a world championship to remember, in a cheerful and comfortable environment and all the facilities necessary. We hope that this even inspires other world sports championships in Argentina.”
FAI Aeromodelling Commission (CIAM) President, Antonis Papadopoulos, will attend the event, and states, “On behalf of CIAM I am looking forward to greeting the participants in South America for this challenging world championships. It is of great importance to this relatively new aeromodelling class that a competition of this level is being hosted in Argentina and we hope that by showcasing the sport here, many new participants will join the aeromodelling community. I would like to wish all the competitors the best of luck!”
The FAI World Championships is preceded by an open competition, the Argentina Tango Cup.
