There have been some unsavory scenes outside the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami this afternoon.
CONMEBOL, the organisers of the Copa America, will be desperate for today’s match to proceed without incident after the trouble that marred Colombia’s victory over Uruguay in the semifinals. But there have already been some incidents outside the ground today.
A number of people wearing Colombia shirts have been pictured being detained by police officers and security guards inside the stadium.
And The Athletic’s correspondents in attendance have witnessed people being removed from the queue to get into the stadium. One of those included a man with a cut to his head.
A police officer at the stadium told The Athletic that gates by the southwest entrance of the stadium, where VIPs and families of the players will enter, have been closed because of people trying to access the ground without tickets.
The Athletic has contacted CONMEBOL for comment.
