And that would put him along side fellow countryman Lionel Messi who led his side to World Cup Glory in 2022 AND this year’s Copa America title.

Bernabei is currently on loan at Brazilian side Internacional where he has found great form.

He has managed 18 appearances for the club who sit fifth in their league.

And he has three goals and three assists to go with his stellar performances.

He netted this weekend in the side’s 3-1 victory over Atletico Mineiro with a long range effort.

Internacional broke up the park with Bernabei in his OWN final third.

But his lightning quick pace saw him break from his half and become the furthest player forward for his team.

He received the ball on the edge of the opposition box before firing the ball into the bottom corner of the net with a first time finish.

And it had fans raving about the left back on social media, tipping him for an international call up.

Taking to X, one fan said: “He has the best player rating this season in all of Brazil.

“(Lionel) Scaloni should definitely take a look at him, especially with aging (Marcos) Acuna and (Nicolas) Tagliafico.”

Another added: “Bernabei is currently the best left back in Brazil. I dare say that he certainly has a place in the Argentina national team!”

One fan said: “You have to buy immediately.”

And a fourth added: “He is the best full-back in the championship.”

Bernabei has recently spoken about his desire to join the Argentina squad.

He previously said: “As everyone knows, they are the world champions.

“I don’t think it will be easy to get into this team that is formed today, this group, but I hope (that I am called up to the national team.)

“Every Argentine player wants to be there. It’s a big dream. It would be a great opportunity.

“Today I am focused here. If I do things well, maybe one day the opportunity will come.”

Internacional’s season ends in December when he will return to Glasgow after the expiration of his loan spell.

But the left back admitted he would love to sign for the Brazilian side on a permanent basis.

“I believe that the negotiations will be handled by my representatives. We hope that it will be the best for the club and for me.”
