Inter Milan & Marseille Could Seal Transfer Of Argentina Copa America Winner This Week
Inter Milan and Marseille could seal an agreement for the transfer of teenage attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni this week.
This according to French outlet L’Equipe, via FCInterNews. They report that the 19-year-old will extend his contract with the Nerazzurri, and then should be able to complete his move to Marseille.
This summer, Marseille have been the club with the strongest interest in Carboni.
The Ligue 1 team have been in talks with Inter for several weeks.
Carboni’s future has always been one of the major question marks at Inter this summer transfer window. The 19-year-old could either leave on a permanent basis, or on another loan.
And since former Brighton and Hove Albion and Sassuolo coach De Zerbi’s arrival, Marseille have earmarked a deal for Carboni as one of their priorities for the summer.
In the meantime, however, Marseille have completed a deal to sign English forward Greenwood.
The French club have confirmed the arrival of the controversial Englishman in a deal worth more than €30 million.
Naturally, that is a big outlay for Marseille.
Marseille are still completely determined to sign Carboni this summer, however.
And the Argentine wants the move to work with De Zerbi.
Therefore, Marseille are aiming to get a deal done on the basis of an initial loan deal, so that it can be financially viable for them this summer.
Inter & Marseille Could Deal Valentin Carboni Deal This Week
L’Equipe confirm that Carboni will extend his contract with Inter prior to the move to Marseille.
The Argentine’s current deal with the Nerazzurri runs until the end of June 2028.
L’Equipre report that Carboni should extend his contract until the end of June 2029.
This would be more symbolic than anything. It would be an indicator that Inter are still not fully giving up control of Carboni.
Then, the 19-year-old will go out on loan to Marseille.
The French side will have the option to sign Carboni on a permanent basis at the end of his loan deal, furthermore.
At this stage, Inter and Marseille are just working out the final details of the transfer.
Inter would retain a buyback clause should Marseille decide to sign Carboni outright next summer.
According to L’Equipe, it is really now just a matter of time. Everything could be in place for Carboni to complete his move by the end of this week.
