Former One Direction star Liam Payne had been enjoying a seemingly jam-packed trip with his girlfriend of two years, Kate Cassidy, in Argentina before his tragic death at the age of 31 on Wednesday.
The singer died after falling from a third-floor balcony while staying in the country’s capital, Buenos Aires.
During his trip, the star supported his bandmate Niall Horan, who was performing a gig at the Movistar Arena on October 2 as part of his Latin American tour.
At the event, Liam was seen enjoying the music from a private box and it wasn’t long before he was spotted by fans.
In one video, shared on TikTok, Liam was seen dancing along to the Macarena before security awkwardly came over and said something to him.
Continuing with his fun however, the singer carried on dancing with security by his side, much to the delight of the audience.
Three days later, he attended Sir Paul McCartney’s concert, and was later spotted in San Antonio de Areco, a town near the Argentine capital.
During that week, the singer was also seen in the streets of Buenos Aires, greeting fans and taking photos, while some excited onlookers even recorded videos of him wearing the Argentina national football team jersey.
Over on his Snapchat, Liam gushed about his “quality time” with Kate as they posed for a selfie together.
He also kept fans up to date with his plans in the country, which included riding horses and plans to play polo.
Liam had been staying at Hotel CasaSur in the neighbourhood of Palermo in Argentina at the time of his death.
It’s not known where he was staying in the 10 days prior to checking in on October 13.
On Wednesday afternoon, Buenos Aires police said in a statement: “Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo.”
Liam was believed to be alone at the time of his death after Kate headed back to America two days prior.
Addressing her early departure on TikTok, she told fans: “Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long. And we were supposed to be there for, like, five days, turned into two weeks.
“I was just like, ‘I need to go home’.” Ahead of boarding her flight back to Florida, Kate also told fans she had come out in “a weird rash” due to her fears around flying.
She is yet to break her silence regarding Liam’s death.
The former X Factor star leaves behind many loved ones, including his seven-year-old son Bear, who he shares with ex partner, Girls Aloud star Cheryl.
The former couple were together for two years before parting ways in 2018.
