Not likely to stay dry in Brazil and Argentina
An ag meteorologist says La Nina has failed to develop and if the weather cycle doesn’t show up at all, South America could produce another decent crop.
“There’s a lot of talk about La Nina influencing the start of rains in Brazil and Argentina.”
Drew Lerner with World Weather Incorporated says a La Nina would worsen the already dry conditions, creating weather concerns that could push U.S. corn and soybean prices higher. Instead, he says…
“I do think we’ll see a delay in initial rains in late September and early October, but it’s not going to be totally dry and it won’t be like it was two years ago when we really struggled to get rain all the way through October and November. That won’t happen again.”
Lerner says rains might be slow getting started and be less than usual, but the weather outlook looks favorable for crop production for both Brazil and Argentina.
