USWNT looking for fresh start in Paris with young roster, new coach
With the youngest team since the 2008 Olympics and a new coach, the U.S. women’s national team is looking to return to their winning ways.
Louisville’s Lynn Family Stadium will host the U.S. Women’s National Team for a match this fall.
Making their first trip to the city in 20 years, the four-time World Cup champions will play Argentina at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the home of Racing Louisville FC and Louisville City FC.
The match will mark the first time a U.S. national team has taken the pitch at Lynn Family Stadium (capacity: 15,304) since it opened four years ago in Butchertown. It will be broadcast on TNT, Universo, truTV, Max and Peacock.
Previously, the USWNT played four games at Cardinal Stadium between 1999-2004.
“We’re truly honored to host the U.S. Women’s National Team,” Soccer Holdings, LLC, President James O’Connor said in a statement Monday. “This is yet another testament to the strong support for professional soccer in Louisville as well as continued investment by our ownership group to build strong teams and top facilities.”
Added Ryan Dell, Racing’s general manager: “I know everyone is looking forward to sharing our world-class facilities and Kentucky hospitality with both teams for this unique international match at Lynn Family Stadium.”
The USWNT and Argentina have played four times — but not since Feb. 24, 2021.
America faces Germany at noon Tuesday in the semifinal round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. If it wins, it will play for its first gold medal since 2012 at 11 a.m. Saturday against either Spain or Brazil.
Tickets to the USWNT’s game against Argentina at Lynn Family Stadium go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday on Racing’s official website.
Presales begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Racing and Louisville City season ticket members will get presale access; as will fans who make a deposit toward 2025 season tickets for either club.
