One Florida little league is stepping up to the plate to represent the region in the Little League Baseball World Series this week.

The Lake Mary Little League will be competing the worldwide baseball tournament for young athletes in Pennsylvania, with their first game on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

"Sorry they skipped school today, but we promise these boys are working hard," the team joked on Facebook, tagging Seminole County Public Schools to apologize for members missing the first week of school.

Where is Lake Mary, Florida? Lake Mary is a suburban city that is located in Central Florida's Seminole County, 18 miles north of Orlando.

When will Florida's team compete in the 2024 Little League World Series? The Lake Mary Little League will be competing against the Midwest's Sioux Falls Little League in Game 4 on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. EST.
