Bahamasair Managing Director Tracey Cooper said yesterday that Airlines for America (A4A), an organization representing multiple US airlines, presented a formal objection to Bahamasair’s application for renewal to continue flight operations into the US.
“This was not due to any matters relating to Bahamasair but more to A4A’s objection to the pricing structure of the Bahamas Air Navigation Services Authority for aircraft overflight fees,” Cooper said.
“The regulatory renewal application to the US [Department of Transport] is separate and apart from this.
Bahamasair, therefore, wants to assure our customers that Bahamasair flight operations into the United States will not be interrupted by this action.”
He said Bahamasair will continue operations into the US on October 3, as expected.
Cooper noted that Bahamasair made its “routine” renewal application to the United States Department of Transport on August 28.
