The $200 million -development by Yntegra Group on East Sampson Cay in the Exumas, the Bahamas, is moving forward.
The new luxury destination in partnership with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, is scheduled to open in 2028.
Earlier this month Yntegra Group presented findings of an Environmental Impact Assessment during the public consultation mandated by the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection.
The assessment points to major socioeconomic benefits for the country, including ‘short and long-term employment, increased awareness of Bahamian culture among the boating community, and increased tourism.’
It is expected to create 500 local jobs.
Economic growth is also expected to come from the resort’s need for products and services provided by nearby businesses in transportation and hospitality.
A 150-unit employee housing facility will be developed to make housing more available to workers and reduce pressure on the local housing market.
Sustainable building practices will be prioritized, including solar-powered energy sources.
This should provide at least 30% of the power demand of the resort.
