After a win in the first tournament of the season, Paul had a strong rest of the year with 18 cuts made, three top 10s and eight top 25s. The top 30 on the Korn Ferry points list automatically qualify for the PGA Tour. Paul never fell out of the top 30 all season.

“I already knew I was somewhat in a good spot before the tournament (this past weekend),” Paul said. “I think there was obviously still a couple mathematical possibilities for me not to get the card. But in my mind, I thought I was fairly safe.”

Paul and his twin brother, Yannik, were stars at the University of Colorado. Jeremy earned PING All-Region and honorable mention honors as a junior during the 2015-16 season in Boulder, and he still holds or shares 27 school records.

Coach Roy Edwards recruited the Paul twins to CU in 2013.

“What an exciting day for Jeremy Paul,” Edwards said.  “He has had a really nice professional career and had a tremendous year on the Korn Ferry Tour this season. We congratulate him on earning his PGA Tour card.”

Golf Insider: Former CU Buffs star Yannik Paul's journey leads him to DP World Tour success

Yannik plays on the DP World Tour. He won his first professional tournament back in October 2022 with a title at Mallorca Golf Open in Spain. He is set to play in the French Open this week.

“I probably started watching them before they were a recruitable age,” Edwards told The Denver Gazette in 2023 . “They were around 16 then and I just stayed in contact. I went and watched them in Germany a couple times.”

Jeremy won’t play during the fall season on the PGA Tour. He will be eligible to play starting in January. He hopes to get into the Sony Open but feels it more realistic to start his PGA career at The American Express on Jan. 16-19 in California.

“The key part is just feeling comfortable out there,” he said. “And knowing that you earned your spot on this tour so you’re good enough to play out there.”

Jeremy is the ninth Buffalo to earn a full-time PGA Tour card, joining Tim Brauch, Rick Cramer, Dale Douglass (3 Tour & 11 Senior Tour victories), Hale Irwin (20 Tour & 45 Champions Tour victories), Steve Jones (8 Tour victories), Jonathan Kaye (2 Tour victories), Larry Webb and Tom Woodard.

“It shows that they have all the resources at CU that you could ask for and in order to develop as a player,” Jeremy said about the success of golf at CU. “I mean even after I left, I feel like it’s just getting better and better. They have access to such good practice facilities. They have indoor facilities.”

Charlie Soule takes CGA Mid-Amateur title

Charlie Soule returned home to Longmont to win the CGA Mid-Amateur last week at The Fox Hill Club. It was the first CGA individual title for the 40-year old.

Soule, a Longmont High grad, also played his college golf at the University of Denver.

He shot a bogey-free 67 on the final day to pull away for the victory by five strokes. Colorado Springs’ Colin Prater, winner of the past two CGA Mid-Amateurs, finished in second at the 25 and older event.

“It’s kind of fun,” Soule told the Colorado Golf Association. “I hadn’t played this course in probably 15 years, so it was fun to be back out and remember the greens. It’s always fun to come back home and get to play. I (first) picked up golf here. It’s good Longmont vibes.”

What they’re saying

“To be honest, I haven’t gotten that far. Personally, I don’t think he’s really interested in doing it. I owe a lot to Phil and I think he’s done so much for the American side of the Ryder Cup, but I’m not so sure he’s looking to come in as a vice-captain.”
