Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, world’s biggest cruise ship

Here’s what guests can expect from Royal Caribbean’s highly-anticipated new ship, Icon of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean is opening a new private destination called Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in the Bahamas in December 2025.The 17-acre beach club will feature pools, swim-up bars, cabanas, and three distinct areas for families, adults, and those seeking a more relaxed experience.Access to the beach club will be available through day passes, which include transportation, food, drinks, and Wi-Fi.

Lounging by the pool or on a beach is par for the course on a cruise vacation. But Royal Caribbean wants to take that to the next level with a new private destination in the Bahamas.

“The Royal Beach Club Paradise Island is the ultimate pool and beach day,” Philip Simon, president of Royal Caribbean Group Bahamas, told USA TODAY. “And that’s our focus, to really combine the world’s most beautiful pools, obviously, with the world’s most beautiful beaches that we take so much pride with presenting in the Bahamas.”

The company revealed new details about the first location in its Royal Beach Club Collection on Thursday, opening next year. The company will also debut Royal Beach Club Cozumel in 2026 and further expand its land-based offerings in 2027 with Perfect Day Mexico, located in Mahahual.

Here’s what guests can expect from Royal Beach Club Paradise Island.

When will Royal Beach Club Paradise Island open?

The destination will open in December 2025, with a specific date to be announced.

What can guests expect?

The beach club will be located on 17 acres at Paradise Island’s western end. Along with beaches, visitors will find over 40 cabanas, seven beach bars and three swim-up bars. Those include The Floating Flamingo, which Royal Caribbean is billing as “the world’s largest swim-up bar.”

Amenities will be spread across three distinct areas, all of which will offer food, pools, and more. Those include the kid-friendly Family Beach, which features games like paddle ball and tug-of-war; the Ultimate Family Cabana, which has its own whirlpool, slide, and frozen drink machine; and the festive Party Cove, which features a DJ and VIP area.

For a more laid-back experience, guests can head to Chill Beach, which offers sunbathing, shopping, and other amenities. Simon, who is from the Bahamas, said the company worked to infuse the island country’s culture into the whole property, from murals to music and dancing that greet guests when they arrive.

“We want to give you more than just that aha moment,” he said. “We want to give you a memory that will obviously last a lifetime because that’s what this company is all about.” The project is part of a public-private partnership, and Bahamians can own up to 49% equity.

Royal Caribbean ships will visit Royal Beach Club Paradise Island from six U.S. ports: Baltimore; Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida; New Jersey’s Cape Liberty; and Galveston, Texas.

The future of cruises: Are mega-ships here to stay?

How much will Royal Beach Club Paradise Island cost?

Pricing info is not yet available, but guests can access the beach club by purchasing a day pass, which will be on sale early next year. Those include water taxi rides to and from the port area – which Simon said is “just minutes away” – food, drinks, Wi-Fi and more. There are also amenities available for an extra cost, such as the cabanas and shore excursions.

“We’ve said basically we want this to be where exclusive meets all-inclusive,” said Simon.
