England-based striker Michail Antonio believes the Reggae Boyz can qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup under newly-appointed coach Steve McClaren.
McClaren was appointed by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) in early August as head coach on a two-year deal replacing Icelander Heimir Hallgrimsson, who had resigned after a disappointing Copa America.
Antonio who scored Jamaica’s first and only goal at the Copa America, has thrown his support behind McClaren, the former Manchester United assistant coach.
34 year old Antonio who has played 18 times for the Reggae Boyz scoring 4 goals, says he’s committed to playing for Jamaica for as long as possible.
Antonio was recently in the United States on pre-season preparation with West Ham United and new manager
Julen Lopetegui.
Antonio has scored a club record 67 goals in 254 matches for West Ham United since joining in 2014.
