Delta Air Lines Resumes Non-Stop Flights to Barbados from Atlanta, New York

Just in time for the holiday season, Delta Air Lines has revived its non-stop route from Atlanta (ATL) to Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) in Barbados, providing a seamless travel option for those visiting the Caribbean island. The Atlanta-Barbados route resumed operations on November 23, while weekly direct flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) are set to begin on December 21. These new flights aim to enhance accessibility for U.S. travelers seeking a tropical getaway during the winter months.

The move underscores Barbados’ dedication to strengthening its connectivity with key international markets and answering the evolving demands of tourists who travel from them. Celebrated worldwide for its unspoiled beaches, colorful culture and friendly hospitality, Barbados remains a popular destination for both leisure and business travelers, particularly during the winter season when temperatures are inhospitable elsewhere.

Barbados’ Minister of Tourism and International Transport, the Hon. G.P. Ian Gooding-Edghill, who flew back to his home island during the recent inaugural flight from Atlanta, applauded the move. “The return of Delta Air Lines exemplifies the confidence they have placed in Barbados as a premier destination. I am optimistic that this move will augur well for our island’s tourism sector - allowing us to usher more visitors to these shores and provide a subsequent boost to the local economy,” he said.

Peter Mayers, U.S. Director for the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), echoed these sentiments, saying, “We are extremely excited to welcome Delta Air Lines back to Barbados for the forthcoming winter season, this new non-stop service from Atlanta and New York City, two major U.S. hubs, marks a significant milestone for Barbados and will further complement our efforts to grow and diversify the U.S. market.”

Jennifer Rabun, Delta’s Field Director for Caribbean Airport Customer Service, was present at GAIA for the Atlanta flight’s arrival. She remarked, “We are continuously working to expand our reach and make it easier for our customers to explore the world. This new service opens up Barbados to customers from over 100 U.S. cities through our convenient one-stop connections from ATL and JFK,” adding, “This means that our network is not only connecting Atlanta to Barbados, but it's also linking countless communities across the United States to this sun-soaked destination.”

Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, commented, “Delta is establishing vital connections from Atlanta and across the U.S. that allows our customers to reach their dream vacation destinations with ease,” adding, “This latest schedule gives travelers unparalleled choice, with up to 1,000 weekly flights to distinctive places throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.”
