New Delta Direct Flight to Barbados Opens Opportunities for Atlanta Investors

New Delta Direct Flight to Barbados Opens Opportunities for Atlanta Investors

Invest Barbados CEO Kaye Greenidge outlines how a new daily nonstop Delta flight from Atlanta to Bridgetown, Barbados, will enable investors to experience the island’s welcoming investment climate, which goes beyond sun, sea and sand and offers opportunities in fintech, film and biopharma.

Barbados is much more than a beautiful beach destination for Atlantans; the launch of a new direct Delta Air Lines Inc. flight from Atlanta to Bridgetown will augment the Caribbean island’s growing reputation as a top-tier location for international business and investment, according to Invest Barbados.

Kaye Greenidge, CEO of Barbados’ national investment promotion agency, expects the flight – which began on Nov. 23 – to play a pivotal role in facilitating easier business travel between the Southeast and the small nation that is positioning itself as a key player in the global investment landscape.

“There’s nothing better than a direct flight. I’m certain businesspersons will appreciate being able to leave Georgia, come to Barbados directly, conduct their business and then return the next day. Or, spend some time and be a tourist in Barbados,” Ms. Greenidge says.

She notes that Barbados is an ideal location for business investment because of its stable political environment, robust regulatory framework and well-established legal system rooted in English common law.

The island’s sophisticated financial services sector and network of double taxation treaties with more than 40 countries, including the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, create a reliable foundation for businesses looking to optimize their international tax structures and establish secure operations in the region.

A Gateway for Latin American Markets

Ms. Greenidge notes that Barbados’ geographic location is also part of its investment appeal, providing investors with convenient access to Latin American markets.

“The business world is global, and investors need access to the right opportunities. The direct flight between Atlanta and Barbados will significantly enhance that access, not just for businesses looking to invest in Barbados but also for those seeking a strategic gateway into Latin America,” she adds.

With its highly skilled workforce, modern infrastructure and strong governmental support for foreign direct investment, Barbados presents a compelling option, especially for companies in the finance, technology and professional services sectors.

While tourism remains a vital part of the Barbadian economy, she says that the country is actively diversifying its economy to attract investment in emerging sectors such as renewable energy, information and communications technology (ICT) and international business services.

Barbados’ focus on sustainable development is attracting companies in the renewable energy sector, including solar and wind energy projects. The island’s telecommunications infrastructure and educated, English-speaking workforce position it as a growing hub for ICT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services.

According to Ms. Greenidge, the new Delta flight will benefit not only business travelers but also logistics, manufacturing and financial services companies that depend on quick and reliable international connections.

She sees tremendous potential in Barbados for Atlanta companies, whether they are seeking investment opportunities in Barbados or a strategic location for international expansion.

Invest Barbados offers guidance on setting up a company, completing applications, handling “red tape” or providing other investment assistance, Ms. Greenidge adds.

“Invest Barbados is here to facilitate. It is here to hold your hand. It is here to carry you from idea to enterprise. And to continue to be there for you in our aftercare program to help you to continue to grow,” she says.

“From the heart, Barbados is a place where you can come, live, play, work and invest. We at Invest Barbados are here to help you achieve that goal.”
