Bermuda’s junior tennis team experienced another close encounter at the BJKCJ DCJ North/Central America & Caribbean pre-qualifying junior Davis Cup in Guatemala City, falling 2-1 to Panama in a tightly contested match.
Tristan Pettit started the tie for Bermuda against Eric Quintero. Despite a strong start, Pettit ultimately lost the match 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 in a thrilling three-setter.
Tobiah Goodchild then levelled the tie for Bermuda with a confident performance against Juan Fernando Fondevila, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
The doubles match would decide the winner of the tie. Goodchild and Jadon Spriggs teamed up again for Bermuda, facing the Panamanian duo of Fondevila and Quintero. Despite a valiant effort, the Bermudian pair were edged out 6-4, 6-3, giving Panama the victory.
