A man faces OWI homicide charges for a double fatal crash in Janesville early Saturday morning, Janesville police reported.
Shortly before 2:15 a.m. Saturday, emergency responders were sent to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Delavan Drive and Beloit Avenue in Janesville, Sgt. SD Welte said in a statement.
The investigation determined that Koty M. Diaz, 32, of Janesville, failed to stop his vehicle at the red light on Delavan Drive and struck a vehicle traveling north on Beloit Avenue. Both occupants of the vehicle that was traveling north on Beloit Avenue were pronounced dead at the scene by the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office, Welte said.

Diaz showed signs of impairment, failed field sobriety tests, and a warrant was signed by a Rock County judge for a blood draw, with results pending, Welte said.

Diaz was arrested on tentative charges of two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, operating after revocation causing death, and a second offense of operating under the influence of an intoxicant, Welte said.
