Lawyers who work in Latin America are navigating a geopolitical minefield as Chinese entities harvest a growing amount of critical minerals such as lithium from the region.
China refines most of the world’s lithium and is also the largest lithium-ion battery maker. This poses a challenge for the U.S. and other western nations that are attempting to source more core goods from entities not controlled by Beijing.
