Brazil’s next generation of superstars will be under a bright spotlight this summer as the Selecao prepare for the 2026 Copa America in the United States.
With just seven points from its first six games, it’s been close to an abject disaster in 2026 World Cup qualifying for Brazil. It’s led to a coaching change — out went Fernando Diniz, in came Dorival Jr. — and it will likely lead to more younger players getting a chance.
At age 17, prospect Endrick — already set to join Real Madrid this summer after he turns 18 — made his senior national team debut last November. Heading into its 2024 schedule, there’s no doubt that Brazil will challenge itself with top-quality opponents this year.
Brazil kicks off the year with a pair of friendly matches in Europe. First, the Selecao head to Wembley Stadium in London to face England on March 23, followed by a trip to face Spain on March 26 in Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Prior to the start of Copa America, Brazil will reportedly face Mexico in the U.S. on June 8 before traveling to Orlando, Fla. to face the U.S. on June 12.

In Brazil, the expectation each tournament is win or bust. The Selecao won Copa America in 2019 and made the final in 2021, before losing to Argentina. Both tournaments were on home soil.
Brazil will hope that it can fare better in the U.S. this time around. In 2016, the Selecao failed to get out of their group, finishing in third place behind Peru and Ecuador. Brazil’s only win came in a 7-1 thrashing of Haiti.
