The NFL is set to make history with its first international game of the season, as the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers are scheduled to face off in São Paulo, Brazil, at Corinthians Arena during Week 1 on Friday, September 6. This match marks a significant milestone in the NFL’s global expansion, bringing American football to a new audience in Brazil.
“This landmark first international game in South America demonstrates the ongoing expansion of our global footprint,” Goodell said in a press release. “Playing on Friday night of Week 1 is a unique way to highlight our international growth and ambitions.”
This upcoming event also marks the first time in over 50 years that the NFL has scheduled a game on a Friday night during Week 1 since the matchup between the Cardinals and the Rams on September 18, 1970.
