Caio Campello joins the firm’s litigation, arbitration and investigations practice as a counsel and foreign legal consultant after having worked independently as a mediator and arbitrator. He brings over 25 years of experience as a litigator handling cross-border matters involving Brazil, the U.S., Europe and Asia.
“As Brazil continues to play a pivotal role in international commerce, the demand for arbitration services that are both locally informed and globally integrated is growing,” Christian Albanesi, the Washington, D.C.-based head of Latin America arbitration at Linklaters, said in a statement.
With the addition of Campello, Linklaters has five lawyers based in Brazil. The rest of the Brazil team focuses on capital markets, M&A, and banking.
Caio will focus on international litigation, arbitration and investigations involving Brazil. “His familiarity with both local and international legal jurisdictions will enable us to enhance our service delivery to clients involved in complex, multi-jurisdictional disputes, enhancing the firm’s overall arbitration and investigations portfolio,” said Matthew Poulter, co-chair of Linklaters’ Latin America corporate finance practice, based in São Paulo.
Before going solo, Campello worked at Mayer Brown’s affiliate firm in Brazil, Tauil & Chequer, and led the litigation and arbitration group at Brazil’s Lefosse when that firm had a cooperation agreement with Linklaters.
