Copa America rosters announced for Canada and Peru ahead of June 25 match-up at Children's Mercy Park

The official 26-player rosters for all 16 national teams competing in CONMEBOL Copa America USA 2024 were announced on Sunday with the highly anticipated tournament set to be played from June 20 to July 14 in 14 stadiums across the United States.

Children’s Mercy Park will host a Group A match-up between Canada and Peru at 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday, June 25 in the first-ever Copa America match in Kansas City. Tickets are available to purchase via SeatGeek and the match will be nationally televised on FS1, UniMas and TUDN.

Canada’s roster is headlined by the two most valuable players in the Concacaf region with Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich) and Jonathan David (LOSC Lille) among several key contributors playing for top clubs in Europe, including Stephen Eustáquio (FC Porto), Alistair Johnston (Celtic FC) and Tajon Buchanan (Inter Milan).

After competing in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and reaching the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations League Final, Canada will play in Copa America for the first time and are currently 49th in the FIFA rankings.

Two-time Copa America champions with triumphs in 1939 and 1975, Peru has reached the semifinal stage in four of the past five tournaments highlighted by third-place finishes in 2011 and 2015 as well as a second-place finish in 2019.

Ranked 32nd in the FIFA rankings. Peru has a roster led by captain Paolo Guerrero who won Copa Sudamericana with LDU Quito last year. The 40-year-old striker has the most Copa America goals of any active player — scoring in five different editions of the competition and emerging as the top scorer in 2011, 2015 and 2019 — and he has the most goals in Peru national team history, scoring in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Copa America Final.

Other notable members of the Peru roster include Alexander Callens from Girona in Spain’s La Liga and Gianluca Lapadula from Cagliari in Italy’s Serie A. Luis Advíncula was a Copa Libertadores runner-up in 2023 with Boca Juniors, while Sergio Peña won a Swedish league championship with Malmo in 2023 and Marcos López won a Dutch league championship with Feyenoord in 2023.

CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 will be the 48th edition of the oldest national team tournament in the world. The competition will feature 32 matches to be played by 16 countries, including all 10 CONMEBOL members in South America along with the best six teams in CONCACAF which includes North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The Group Stage will be played from June 20 to July 2, followed by the Quarterfinals from July 4 to 6, the Semifinals on July 9 and 10, a Third Place Match on July 13 and the Final on July 14. The Copa America USA 2024 complete match schedule is available here.
