Get ready to scream, as a new record-breaking launch roller coaster is racing to Canada’s Wonderland next year!
The theme park in Vaughan, Ontario announced Thursday that a new action-packed ride, AlpenFury, will open in 2025.
AlpenFury will be the longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster in the country, according to Wonderland. Propelling riders 50 metres into the sky, the ride will span a massive 1,000 metres across the park while reaching speeds of 115 km/h, flipping and twisting through nine breathtaking inversions – the most of any launch coaster in North America.
Thrill-seekers will enter in the depths of the mysterious and dark Wonder Mountain before blasting towards the clouds through the summit at a high speed. Far from a smooth ride, passengers will also be greeted with large flames as they soar through the ups and downs – and upside downs – of the coaster.
“AlpenFury is a world-class attraction, and we’re excited for the unique thrills it will offer our guests,” Phil Liggett, general manager at Canada’s Wonderland, said in a news release. “The combination of being blasted out of Wonder Mountain, and then racing through nine inversions one right after the other, is going to be an experience guests won’t soon forget.”
AlpenFury will be the park’s 19th roller coaster. It will join Thunder Run, Vortex and Wonder Mountain’s Guardian as one of four rides that interact with the central mountain. It will also be the signature attraction in Alpenfest, which will later be officially designated a themed area of the park next year.
Coaster enthusiasts are getting excited on social media, with many looking forward to travelling out of their hometowns to catch a ride on the AlpenFury.
“I’m not even a launch coaster fan and even I can’t wait to ride this,” one user on X said. “It looks amazing.”
“That looks incredible,” another user said. “Definitely driving up from Florida next year to check this out!”
“Wow!!! This looks insane! I really need to renew my passport,” another user wrote.
However, some are already anticipating long wait-times, as the ride will only contain two train cars holding 18 passengers each at a time.
“The 2 hour line up will be awesome,” a user said.
“Already preparing mentally for the lines,” another user wrote.
Guests who purchase a 2025 Gold Pass will get unlimited rides on AlpenFury in 2025, plus unlimited access to other events the park puts on such as Halloween Haunt and WinterFest for this year and next.
The 2024 Gold Pass is now available at its lowest price of the year for $105 through Sept. 2. Early birds who purchase before Aug. 11 will also receive five free Single-Use Fast Lane Passes.
