The Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team will play Canada for a spot in the 2024 Copa America tournament.
The North America team, which competed at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, were eliminated by Jamaica last night on home soil after a 3-2 defeat. The two nations finished at 4-4 on goal aggregate, as Canada won 2-1 in Kingston—however the “Reggae Boyz” advanced on the away goal rule.
Canada star Alphonso Davies opened the scoring against Jamaica in the second leg of their Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal tie.
But it was enough to get them to the semifinals.
Canada are ranked 45th in the world by Fifa and fourth in Concacaf. However, it is doubtful that the Soca Warriors would be put off by that, following a 2-1 win over Concacaf’s top nation, the United States, on Monday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.
Trinidad and Tobago and Canada will meet in a winner-takes-all one-off contest at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on 23 March 2024.
In 11 all-time meetings at senior international level, Trinidad and Tobago have two wins, with two draws and seven losses. However, the tale is closer in competitive matches between the two with the Warriors enjoying two wins and one defeat.
Trinidad and Tobago have not faced Canada in a competitive affair since they thumped them 4-0 in Port of Spain in the 2002 World Cup qualifying campaign, with the likes of Dwight Yorke, Russell Latapy and current head coach Angus Eve in red, black and white colours.

Canada are favourites this time, with the Warriors now ranked 99th in the world. But the likes of Reon Moore, Andre Rampersad and, hopefully, Levi Garcia would hope to spring a surprise in Texas.
The Warriors were within touching distance of the Copa America in 2015, only to lose a play-off to Haiti. Eve will want to go a step further.
