Trump Wants NHL Legend as ‘Governor of Canada’ in Latest Troll

President-elect Donald Trump made it clear that he isn’t taking any time off from trolling just because it’s Christmas.

The GOP leader took to Truth Social on Wednesday to revisit his bizarre claim that Canada could become America’s 51st state—and revealed he even knows who he’d want to be governor: NHL legend Wayne Gretzky.

“I just left Wayne Gretzky, ‘The Great One’ as he is known in Ice Hockey circles,” wrote Trump, claiming that he suggested that Gretzky run for Canadian Prime Minister. He added, “Soon to be known as the Governor of Canada”

According to Trump, Gretzky, who was born in Brantford, Canada, would “win easily” if ran to become prime minister.

“You wouldn’t even have to campaign,” wrote Trump. “He had no interest, but I think the people of Canada should start a DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement. It would be so much fun to watch!”

Trump has openly threatened to institute a 25% blanket tariff on imports from neighboring allies Mexico and Canada unless they secured their borders, reported BBC.

After photos revealed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Mar-a-Largo for a meeting with Trump, MAGA supporters have seized upon the photo-op to assert that the neighboring country was showing fealty to the United States.

Trump has played into the narrative by talking about granting Canada statehood.

Canada’s Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, who attended the dinner with Trump and Trudeau, has previously downplayed Trump’s statehood comment as “jokes.”

“The president was telling jokes. The president was teasing us. It was, of course, on that issue, in no way a serious comment,” LeBlanc told reporters in Ottawa, reported AP News.

Yet it wasn’t just Canada that got a lump of troll for Christmas. Trump made sure to rage post about all of his latest favorite obsessions: “taking back” the Panama Canal, taking over Greenland, and claims about America being taken advantaged by its allies.

Trump claimed, without evidence, that the “wonderful soldiers of China” are operating the Panama Canal “illegally.”

He added, “Likewise to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for National Security purposes and, who want the U.S. to be there, and we will!”

Further trolling Trudeau, Trump proposed that taxes are “far too high” for Canadians. “But if Canada was to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by more than 60%,” he claimed.

And Trump turned his attention to the “Radical Left Lunatics,” claiming they are “constantly trying to obstruct our Court Systems and our Elections.”

He added, “They know that their only chance of survival is getting pardons from a man who has absolutely no idea what he is doing”

He continued, “We had the Greatest Election in the History of our Country, a bright light is now shining over the U.S.A. and, in 26 days, we will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. MERRY CHRISTMAS!”

Merry Christmas?
