Venezuela Make History
The Venezuelans made history by winning all three Copa America group stage games for the first time. The Copa America 2024 odds listed La Vinotinto as +550 underdogs to win Group B but they passed each test with flying colors and finished in first place. In their first match, Venezuela went down 1-0 to ten-man Ecuador but managed to pull off a 2-1 comeback victory.
Then, the CONMEBOL side took down Mexico 1-0 and destroyed Jamaica 3-0. Salomon Rondon and Eduard Bello both scored two goals for the Vinotinto in the group stage. This Venezuelan side has improved drastically under Sergio Bastista. Venezuela have only lost two of their 11 matches in the last year.
On Friday, Venezuela will be without winger Darwin Machis after he picked up two yellow cards in the group stage. Yeferson Soteldo could replace him in the starting lineup and he has four career Venezuela goals.
In defense, Venezuela have been impressive, as they’ve conceded just one goal in three games. Midfielder Yangel Herrera is a player to watch as a lot of Venezuela’s build-up play goes through him.

No matter what happens on Friday, Canada’s first foray into the Copa America will be considered a success. In Jesse Marsch’s first major tournament as Canada’s coach, they went 1-1-1 and finished in second place in the Group A Copa America standings. Les Rogues hung around with Argentina in their opener but fell 2-0.
Canada had the advantage of playing up a man in matches against Peru and Chile after each team got a red card. In the Peru match, Jonathan David scored Canada’s first-ever Copa America goal in a 1-0 win. Canada hung on in the group closer versus Chile as the match finished scoreless.
Despite scoring only one goal in three games, Canada do pose a threat. Alphonso Davies and Jacob Shaffelburg have great pace on the wings. However, our Venezuela vs Canada betting preview notes Tajon Buchanan suffered a broken tibia in training and is out indefinitely.
No other Canada players are reported injured or suspended for the match. Canada have looked a lot less frantic than they did at the World Cup during the tournament and they absolutely have a chance to advance.
