Caymanian entrepreneur Ian Charlery has been named in the inaugural class of emerging leaders for ISSA, a leading international trade association for the cleaning, hygiene and facility management industry.
The CEO of A1 Cleaning Services was one of 30 industry professionals worldwide selected from a pool of 100 nominations of people under the age of 40 for their “significant contributions, leadership, and commitment to driving the industry forward,” according to an ISSA press release.
This marks the first time the Cayman Islands has been recognised by the association in any category.
“I’m incredibly honoured to receive this recognition, but it’s a reflection of the collective efforts of our entire team at A1 Cleaning Services. This award is a testament to the work we’ve done to raise the standard in the cleaning industry,” Charlery told the Cayman Compass.
“For me, it’s an affirmation of the progress we’re making,” he said, adding, “For Cayman, it shows that our small island can lead in global industries, and I hope this inspires other local businesses to push boundaries.”
Charlery, who has been CEO of the company for a decade and oversees operations, strategy and growth initiatives, was nominated based on “contributions to the cleaning industry, particularly in the areas of innovation, technology integration, research and leadership, as well as the company’s achievement’s in advancing standards and sustainability’, ISSA said in the release.
“I enjoy leading a team that’s passionate about excellence and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the cleaning industry,” he said.
Charley added, “The entire company is thrilled. This recognition validates the hard work we’ve done over the years, and I think it has energised the team even more … I believe this award reflects the hard work and innovation that we’ve been able to bring to the industry, both locally and globally.”
As part of the Emerging Leaders programme, one individual will receive the ISSA Rising Star Award in honour of Jimmy Core, “a former member of ISSA … whose spirit of giving and heart for feeding the homeless has inspired action globally”, according to ISSA. The award will be presented at the ISSA Show North America on 19 Nov.
