Jetblue has joined the list of international carriers increasing flights to the Cayman Islands ahead of the anticipated winter rush.
A report in the Caribbean Journal stated that Jetblue will be adding a third weekly flight from Boston to Grand Cayman starting 28 Oct.
The New York-headquartered airline has confirmed the additional flights.
Flights from Boston to Grand Cayman will now move to Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
‘Broader reach into international markets’
Jetblue told the Compass on Thursday, in an emailed comment, that its growth and presence in Latin America and the Caribbean “is part of a broader reach into international markets where the airline’s great customer service and low fares have made it a leading airline”.
It said for January to April 2025, JetBlue will offer more than 10% additional seats year over year. However, it said schedules are subject to change.
The airline added that from Grand Cayman, it offers direct service to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport.
“Direct access to these two JetBlue Focus Cities provide Grand Cayman residents with not only nonstop service to New York and Boston but connections to a number of cities throughout the United States and beyond,” the statement said.
Earlier this month, Delta Airlines announced that it was adding an extra flight between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Grand Cayman to its winter schedule this year.
Delta is adding a second flight on Fridays between 12 Dec. and 12 April, up from just one flight on Saturdays for the 2023-2024 winter schedule.
Delta’s announcement came a few weeks after United announced it was going to increase flights into the Cayman Islands.
United said it would be adding more flights from the US into Grand Cayman from Chicago, Houston and Washington, DC, for the peak winter season and beyond.
This will include a new daily service beginning in mid-December between Chicago O’Hare and Owen Roberts International Airport.
United is also increasing capacity on its service between Houston, Texas and Grand Cayman from once-a-week to daily starting in November and December. This route will become a permanent daily route in March.
Cayman has seen positive numbers when it comes to air arrivals this year.

The latest total for 2024 on the Department of Tourism website shows the island welcomed 317,213 air arrivals between January and August. In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted travel, air arrivals to the Cayman Islands surpassed 500,000 people.
