74% of Dominicans believe their economic situation will improve in the next 12 months, placing them with Panama as the country with the most noteworthy economic optimism in Latin America. This percentage contrasts significantly with the regional average of 52%.
Promoting tourism, incentives for foreign investment, and post-pandemic recovery have been fundamental pillars of President Abinader’s economic policies. In addition, infrastructure projects and employment programs have consolidated an environment of stability and growth in the country.
Perception of progress: Projects that generate tangible results
50% of Dominicans perceive the country as progressing, ranking as the second best evaluated in this indicator, only behind El Salvador (72%) and well above the regional average of 28%.
This result reflects the impact of infrastructure works, improvements in the health system and educational programs, and the implementation of social policies aimed at the most vulnerable sectors. These efforts have reinforced the perception of sustained development in the Dominican Republic.
Democracy: Strong support for the system of government
78% of Dominicans agree that, despite its problems, democracy is the best system of government. This result places the country among the leaders in the region, exceeding the regional average of 69% and standing out against countries such as Panama (69%) and Ecuador (64%).
This support reflects Dominicans’ confidence in the democratic framework as the basis for development and progress, backed by the government’s actions to strengthen institutions and ensure citizen participation.
