Colombia on Longest Unbeaten Streak in World

No national team is on a longer active unbeaten run than Colombia at the moment. Los Cafeteros have equaled their longest unbeaten streak in team history, going 27 games without a loss. Colombia destroyed Panama 5-0 in the Copa America Quarter-Finals and now take on Uruguay in the Semifinals on Wednesday.

Uruguay knocked out powerhouses Brazil in penalties and are one of the most in-form teams in the world as well. As these two contenders collide on Wednesday, we’ll cover the Uruguay vs Colombia soccer odds.

Uruguay vs Colombia Head-to-Head

Four of the last five meetings between Uruguay and Colombia have finished in draws. Last October, the two sides drew 2-2 in a World Cup Qualifier. The pregame Uruguay vs Colombia soccer odds listed a draw at +225. It also took penalties to separate these teams in the 2021 Copa America Quarter-Finals.

Following a scoreless draw, Colombia won 4-2 on penalties. Regardless, Uruguay haven’t lost any of the last six 90-minute fixtures. Notably, Colombia’s James Rodriguez has three career goals against Uruguay.

Uruguay Missing Two in Defense

Uruguay’s plan to stop Brazil in Saturday’s Quarter-Final seemed to be to foul them. La Celeste committed 26 fouls in 90 minutes and right back Nahitan Nandez picked up a straight red card. Playing with ten men, Uruguay held on for 15 minutes plus stoppage time and the match finished scoreless. In penalties, Uruguay converted four of their five spot kicks and goalkeeper Sergio Rochet made a big save to deny Eder Militao.

Now, Uruguay are in their first Copa America Semifinal since winning the title in 2011. Uruguay are the joint-record Copa America winners, with 15 titles, but have only one since 1995. Since the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Uruguay have lost only two of their 17 matches and they’re 10-4-2 under Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa has implemented an all-action style of play and no one outworks Uruguay. While they didn’t score against Brazil, Uruguay did create more chances than their opponents. Uruguay also won all three of their group stage games as Darwin Nuñez and Maxi Araujo both scored in 3-1 and 5-0 wins over Panama and Bolivia, respectively.

Uruguay also defeated the USA 1-0 in their group stage closer to knock the hosts out. While Nandez is suspended for this match, center back Ronald Araujo picked up a muscle injury in the Quarters. Captain Jose Gimenez will replace Araujo and Guillermo Varela can step in for Nandez.

Colombia on the Verge of History

Not many Copa America predictions had Colombia winning the whole thing but they’ve been the tournament’s best team so far. Through four matches, Colombia have outscored their opponents 11-2 and have played excellent football in the process. James Rodriguez is turning back the clock like it’s 2014, as Colombia’s captain has provided a Copa America-leading five assists.

Plus, all three of Luis Diaz, Jhon Córdoba and Daniel Muñoz have scored twice in Colombia’s run to the Semis. Should Colombia progress to the final, they’ll break their national team record for most consecutive games unbeaten. Since losing to Argentina in a 2022 World Cup Qualifier, Colombia haven’t lost any of their last 27 games.

Colombia also had a 10-game winning streak heading into their group stage closer against Brazil. However, the match finished 1-1 and the streak was snapped. Still, Colombia beat Paraguay 2-1 and took down Costa Rica 3-0 in the group stage to finish in first place in Group D.

While the Copa America bracket was kind to Los Cafeteros in the Quarter-Finals, where they destroyed Panama 5-0, this match versus Uruguay should be as tough as it gets. Colombia will get midfielder Jefferson Lerma, who was suspended for the Panama game, back for this match.

Uruguay vs Colombia Match Analysis & Odds

As these two excellent teams match up, the Uruguay vs Colombia soccer odds list Colombia as ever-so-slight +179 favorites. Meanwhile, bettors can find Uruguay’s moneyline at +184 odds and a draw at +192.

Incredibly, Uruguay have conceded just one goal in their last seven competitive matches and Colombia will have to be patient to break Uruguay down. Meanwhile, Colombia are on a 12 game scoring streak and they’ve averaged nearly three goals per game in 2024.

Darwin Nuñez was on a seven game scoring streak for Uruguay but the striker has failed to find the net in each of his last two games. In those matches, Uruguay have managed just one goal.

This is expected to be a low scoring match, with under two goals at -115 odds. Colombia pk is priced at -118, while bettors can find Uruguay pk at -102 odds for what should be one of the best matches of the tournament.
