BOGOTA, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) — Juventus left-back Juan Cabal was among three uncapped players named in Colombia’s squad on Thursday for World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Argentina.
Colombia manager Nestor Lorenzo also called up Girona midfielder Jhon Solis and Cruz Azul goalkeeper Kevin Mier for the first time.
Meanwhile, Cristian Borja, Yerson Mosquera and Juan Camilo Hernandez were recalled after being overlooked for the Copa America in June and July.
Colombia will meet Peru in Lima on September 6 and Argentina in Barranquilla four days later.
The matches will be Colombia’s first outings since a 1-0 loss to Argentina in the Copa America final last month.
The Cafeteros are currently third in the South American zone World Cup qualifying standings with 12 points from six games, three points behind leaders Argentina.
