The 2024 Copa America Tournament is nearing its end. The semifinals start tomorrow and some very shocking teams are still alive.
Most notably, Canada is still in the running for a championship. They entered the tournament with the 11th-best odds (+8000). They weren’t even expected to reach the knockout rounds, let alone win a game once they got there. Now though, the Canadians will have to face off against Lionel Messi and an Argentinian squad that already beat them in the group stage. So, while this Cinderella story is admirable, it’s in danger of ending before the finals.
The other two teams remaining are Uruguay and Colombia. Colombia was the only team in the quarterfinals that didn’t have to go to penalties. They dominated Panama to the tune of a 5-0 victory (take notes America). Colombia was considered an elite team that just needed to avoid Argentina and Brazil if they wanted a chance to win the tournament. Well, with Brazil eliminated, half of that dream is now reality.

Here is each semifinal team in the 2024 Copa America Tournament ranked based on their championship odds. All odds via BetMGM.
Copa America semifinals odds:4) Canada +2800
The drop in odds between Canada and the next team on this list is drastic, and for good reason. Through four games in this tournament, Canada has scored…two goals. They’ve allowed just as many goals, but have squeaked by on the grounds of goal differential and penalties. With Copa America being a rather short tournament, perhaps a case could be made that Canada only needs two more lucky games to win the tournament outright. However, that seems unlikely given just how stellar teams like Colombia and Argentina have been so far.
3) Colombia +350
Fresh off a 5-0 win in the quarterfinals – tied for the largest win of the 2024 Copa America Tournament – Colombia is riding high heading into the semifinals. Unfortunately, they’re taking on a team in Uruguay that just took down Brazil. That isn’t to say that Colombia doesn’t have any such impressive wins though. Sure, this tournament may have yet to test them, but Colombia has won 27 straight international matches, including over Brazil and Spain. This is a very good team and, at their current odds, probably the best bet of the tournament.
2) Uruguay +250
Anyone who beats Brazil is going to see their odds jump drastically, but this is probably a bit of an overreaction to the victory. Uruguay will likely be without two of its best players, Nandez and Ronald Araujo, who suffered injuries against Brazil. While Uruguay proved to be a very resilient team capable of winning physical matchups, they’re too hobbled, and it’s been too long since they’ve proven capable of winning Copa America to feel confident in their chances of victory.
1) Argentina -125
Who else could be here? Not only is Argentina the most talented team left standing, but their semifinal match will be against undeniably the easiest team remaining. While Uruguay and Colombia will fight tooth and nail in order to get a shot at the title, Argentina will likely be able to sit back and coast to a Finals appearance. They’ve already beaten Canada once this tournament, and while that game was much closer than it needed to be, Argentina has the tools to win much more comfortably this time around. Argentina will very likely become the first back-to-back Copa America champions since Chile in 2015 and 2016.
