Prince Harry feels isolated as Meghan Markle shines on Colombia trip

An expert has pinpointed the moment Prince Harry appeared to become a 'grumpy spare' as Meghan Markle shone in the limelight during their recent trip to Colombia.

It's been suggested that Harry felt "more and more isolated" throughout the journey, which was eagerly awaited by Royal watchers. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's visit to South America in mid-August was seen as an informal Royal tour.

Meghan notably stepped into the spotlight on several occasions, particularly when delivering a speech on female empowerment at an event for Afro-Colombian women. A Royal commentator has observed that the entire Colombian venture seemed to be "created about Meghan", especially noticeable during one of the formal lunches they attended.

The Sun's Royal editor, Matt Wilkinson, speaking to True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat, remarked: "A lot of it was about Meghan. A lot of the images and the words sent out to us via the [Sussex] press office, [not] just by a pool reporter... it was all about Meghan. The whole thing was created about Meghan."

He added that alternative footage captured by attendees outside the official press pool painted a different picture, showing Prince Harry looking somewhat disgruntled. Wilkinson quipped, using Harry's own terminology, that he seemed to be 'the spare', reports the Mirror.

This commentary aligns with insider claims that despite presenting a united front, Prince Harry came across as "sulky" and took a backseat during the tour.

A source speaking to The Sun revealed that the Prince's wife, Meghan, confidently took centre stage, leaving Harry feeling increasingly "isolated" in California. They stated: "Harry is feeling more and more isolated in California, which is why he has been reconnecting with old friends back home."

"The Colombia trip also really highlighted how Meghan is comfortable stepping into the spotlight, while Harry cuts a very sulky, unhappy figure in the background. He wants to carve out a way back into royal life back in the UK and is seeking counsel from old friends and associates."

Reports suggest that Harry has reached out via WhatsApp to several UK-based friends who are eager to assist him in his potential return from his American exile. The Mail on Sunday reports that the prince has been seeking advice "from his old life" as a working royal, reportedly dissatisfied with the guidance provided by US PR experts.

An insider claims the Duke is "turning away from all sorts of Hollywood publicists" and instead "seeking counsel from his old friends and associates". This news follows the recent departure of another American PR adviser from Harry and Meghan's team, just weeks after their chief of staff resigned three months into his role.

Harry is thought to have already sought advice from a trusted figure "from the old school" known for their loyalty and discretion. A friend has reportedly devised a plan for how Harry can reintegrate into UK circles and potentially undertake "very low-key royal duties".

The source added that the friend "believes if Harry returns to the UK with zero fuss, avoids any publicity, and attends very mundane events, he could prove himself and win over the British public again."
