Costa Rica opens to investors from Israel

Aurora Israel News: Latest Updates on the Conflict with Hamas, Technological Innovation and Medical Advances

Under the title “Expand your borders in Latin America – Costa Rica a 5-star country”, the foreign trade agency Procomer, together with the embassy of the Central American country in Israel, organizes a meeting next Thursday, May 30 in Tel Aviv to show the advantages it offers to Israeli investors.

Procomer, the only Latin American foreign trade agency in Israel, will show the country’s potential in multiple facets. Due to its privileged location to trade with the rest of America and the world, a development based on sustainability and a strong commitment to talent and innovation, Costa Rica has established itself as a leading country in entrepreneurship: 99% of the energy comes from from renewable sources.

The numbers speak for themselves. 29 of the 100 most valuable companies in the world have carried out successful operations in Costa Rica; multinationals come to look for Costa Rican human capital, listed as number 1 in 2018 according to a global competitiveness report; It is the first exporter of knowledge in Latin America; It has attractive tax incentives for import and export…

Without a doubt, the stability and benefits that Costa Rica offers are based on a culture of a country committed to the peace, health and education of its citizens. Since 1948, the country has not had an armed forces, education has been mandatory since 1870, its democracy is the oldest in Latin America (1899), and its spending on education (7,36% of GDP) and health (9,9% ) are among the highest on the continent.

Several examples prove Costa Rica’s successful business commitment: it houses IBM’s largest cybersecurity headquarters in America; Intel’s only research and development laboratory outside the US; Starbucks’ global operation development center in the agritech sector; or Chanel’s new product testing laboratory.

As if that were not enough, local Costa Rican products have also achieved a good reputation. In a past business meeting with businessmen from Israel, Dyana Cordero, director of the Procomer trade office, explained that “the quality of our products is what the Israeli importer looks for. When they look to Costa Rica as a solution within the market, it is because those importers have decided to work with high quality products, which have added value in innovation, with products that have a sustainable strategy.” And she continued: “it is true, Costa Rica is a country well recognized globally for its sustainability and fair trade policies.”

In statements to Aurora, Cordero pointed out that the event this coming Thursday “will be focused on investments, in companies that wish to expand in Latin America.” The director of the investment promotion agency, Pilar Madrigal, will be present at the event, as well as a law firm specialized in investments and regimes in free zones.

“This event is a preparation for the visit of the vice minister of foreign trade, Duayner Salas, who will be in Israel from June 23 to 28, together with the general manager of Procomer, Pedro Beirute,” said Cordero. It will not only be a meeting to promote investments: a workshop will be held where companies can make consultations to assess the benefits and challenges of negotiating with Latin America.

The workshop, which will explain the paperwork and bureaucracy processes that a foreign businessman faces, will focus on sectors such as “digital tech”, medical device companies, hotel companies that wish to invest in sustainable tourism, cybersecurity or artificial intelligence.
